Kagbeni to Chele trek distance via Tangbe & Chhusang
Second day of Upper mustang trek starts after breakfast at Kagbeni village. Kagbeni to Chele trek distance is 15.3 kilometers / 9.5 mile. It takes 6 to 7 hrs to cross by foot. Chele village situated at an elevation of 3050 meters above sea level. This trail goes along the bank of Kali Gandaki River. Trekkers enjoy the mind-blowing views all around. The views of the majestic Nilgiri and Tukuche are awesome.
The trail goes by the side of the valley and in some places it goes through the riverbed. When compared to the valley, riverbed is the easier path. Kalobhir, Sky caves, Rock tunnel, organic apple farm, Tangbe village, red, white and black Chortens, Gumbakang and Chhusang village are highlighted places to see in this part of upper mustang trek.
Travelers pass throw the Kalobhir and climb the cliff to reach Tangbe. Tangbe is a typical Gurung village of Mustang with narrow lanes and whitewashed houses. The apple orchards, fields of barley and buckwheat add to the scenic beauty of this place.
From Tangbe the trek goes to Chhusang, hiking trail will be uphill and downhill. After relaxing and exploring Chhusang village, trip continues along Kaligandaki. The trekkers reach a bridge which is at the bottom of Chele. After crossing the steel bridge over Kali Gandaki river you have to manage a pretty steep climb to reach the destination of the day “Chele” or Tsaile.
On the way you can get the views of eroded cliffs which are red in color. Most of the caves here are inaccessible. Once they reach Chele, they start to experience the Tibetan influence.
